Cutting Through the Noise
In this great podcast episode, Kevin Brenner of CD Baby gives the keynote address at the CD Baby DIY Musician Conference which took place in Chicago in September.
Kevin’s address answers one of the most frequently asked questions by artists: How to I cut through the noise and get noticed?
After listening, here’s what I learned:
- The positive result from marketing isn’t always a purchase. Sometimes it’s an email sign up or awareness or a reaction to your message.
- Storytelling is the first step to cutting through the noise and getting people to care about your music.
- As an independent artist, your entire audience is online.
- Get video of everything!
- It’s a good idea to think outside the box when it comes to playing your music live. Intersect the lives of people where it’s not expected and you may make some superfans.
