I got a call last night telling me about a conference that supports independent artists so I went to check it out. They are giving away a single deal sponsored by a local label. However, the label is not gospel. If you look at the label’s Facebook page, there are naked women and women drinking and other photos that one would not consider positive for a Christian artist. Is this where a Christian artist should be? Why would the host of this conference, who is in the gospel industry, have that label a part of his or her conference? Do you think gospel artists should be a part of a label like that?
What is wrong with the gospel industry? Artists, before going to any conference, do your homework because in the end it could cost you. I could say more but I’m going to leave it alone for now.
Another question to ask yourself: What store is going to take a single?
Your best distribution deal is out of the trunk of your car!
